Guest blog: 3 tips to maximise your time at Care Managers Show Vol. 2

Guest blog: 3 tips to maximise your time at Care Managers Show Vol. 2
Mark Topps from The Caring View has some top tips to help you make the most of your time at Care Managers Show Vol. 2.

1. Check the agenda and plan

Care Managers Show is an amazing opportunity for growth and development, so make sure you are prepared.

Check out the agenda here and make a list of the sessions you want to attend. It's also a good idea to write down which stream they are part of (Operational Excellence, Free CPD, Technology, etc) because this will indicate where the sessions are taking place on the day.

Make sure you have a notepad and a couple of pens with you, so you can take some notes during sessions.

2. Get organised

There is lots happening at Care Managers Show Vol. 2 and time will go quickly, so make the most of the time you have there.

If you are attending both days, this will give you additional time to join more sessions and take everything in – but if you are only attending one day, you will need to be super organised.

In addition to joining the sessions you've already noted down, you'll want to use the time in between to catch up with old friends, socialise with your social care colleagues, meet suppliers and broaden your knowledge further. Take a look at the exhibitors here and think about whether there are any you're particularly interested in talking to.

3. Get involved

I love that the Care Managers Show is personal, approachable and provides the opportunity to get involved.

During the conversations you have throughout the day, make sure you ask questions because this will enhance your learning. After sessions, hang back and speak to the chair or panellists to ask any questions you didn't get a chance to ask in the session.

Network with people and follow on the conversation via email or social media as this will help you to build and maintain relationships.

Finally...

Remember to make the most of the event and take notes because, trust me, you won’t remember everything when you get back into the 9-5 daily grind. Once you're back at work, look over your notes and consider how you can apply your new knowledge and the skills you have gained to your work and/or personal life.

Most of all, have fun and enjoy the two days!
